Zaïr Legal Engineer

As a Legal Engineer, I operate at the intersection of technology and law. By applying new technologies to time-consuming tasks, I try to make our lawyers’ lives a bit easier. If the grunt work is automated, they can spend more time focussing on the truly interesting stuff. Essentially this means applying automation, data analysis and tech to redefine the way lawyers work.

I’m very interested in the way technology will impact the legal industry. It will undoubtedly do, but to what extent and in what way is still unclear. That means there is still a lot to be discovered. At Loyens & Loeff I feel able to contribute to shaping the future of law and tax. That makes working here very exciting! I get to work alongside a variety of people, all with their own interesting personalities and backgrounds. The one thing that everyone has in common is that they are really driven and very enthusiastic about what they do. In this comfortable working environment, I continuously feel encouraged to learn new things and to develop useful skills. It’s amazing to see how much time and effort is put into your personal development.

Kiteboarding is a big passion of mine. On weekends, if the wind is right, you can find me on the water. Out there, it’s just you, the wind and the waves. It helps me clear my mind and sometimes even come up with solutions to complex problems. Just as in my work, I always push myself to refine my skills and learn something new. Of course, you’ll fail a couple of times and fall flat on your face, but eventually you get the hang of it and that’s what makes it so much fun!
