Your unique talents nurtured from day one

Your journey begins: The Lawyers Academy

The Lawyers Academy provides a launchpad for your legal career in the Dutch offices of Loyens & Loeff. As a starting lawyer, you’ll be equipped with the tools, confidence, and support to make an impact from day one. For six months, you will follow an internal training programme with attention to your professional and personal development. You will be given direct responsibility for your own files and clients, while being guided and coached by experienced lawyers. For example, you may work on disputes about the purchase or renovation of a house, labour disputes, rent issues, unpaid invoices, and many other files with which you learn about a variety of different practice areas and how you can make a big difference for your client.

Over the course of six months, you’ll follow an internal training programme focused on both your professional and personal development. You’ll take on real responsibility — managing your own files and working directly with clients — all while being coached by experienced lawyers who are there to guide you.

Our Alchemy of Talent in action

What it's like to work at Loyens & Loeff

Our colleague, Kevin, shares some insight into his experience of being an attorney at law in our Lawyers Academy.

Kevin’s story reflects the unique chemistry that makes our firm a place to learn, succeed, and have fun.

The Lawyers Academy focuses on four pillars:

Team bonding & onboarding

One of the most valuable aspects of the Lawyers Academy is the strong internal network you begin building from the start. You’ll work closely with your fellow Academy participants, and often form lasting friendships.

As each of you moves into different practice areas, you’ll gain a network of trusted colleagues across the firm. This not only enriches your experience at Loyens & Loeff, but also strengthens collaboration and connection throughout the organisation.

The Lawyers Academy focuses on four pillars:

Discover your strenghts – and grow them

At Loyens & Loeff, personal development is just as important as professional growth. During the Lawyers Academy, you’ll gain deep insights into your own strengths and areas for improvement — from understanding your communication style to learning how to work effectively with others who communicate differently.

With the support of your personal coach, you’ll set and work towards meaningful learning goals tailored to your development.

One of the highlights of the Academy is the unforgettable team trip, where collaboration and leadership are put into practice. It’s a chance to challenge yourself, strengthen team bonds, and grow in ways that go far beyond the office.

The Lawyers Academy focuses on four pillars:

Apply knowledge with confidence

With the guidance of our experienced tutors, you’ll gain up-to-date legal knowledge that you can immediately apply to your own cases. You’ll learn to assess both the substantive and procedural aspects of a case, and develop a more strategic approach to your work.

This combination of theory and practice ensures you’re not just learning the law — you’re learning how to use it effectively to support your clients and make informed decisions.

The Lawyers Academy focuses on four pillars:

Sharpen your skills

Significant attention is given to the skills needed to practice law. You will put these skills into practice during client meetings, hearings and negotiations. In addition, our business development courses give you the tools to build a network, the ‘Transaction Game’ introduces you to transaction practice and the ‘Write to Inspire’ workshop teaches you how to write sound advice or a convincing legal argument.
